Hell is without its leader, Lucifer. There are souls down here that need your wisdom-- clear-minded wisdom--
— Beelzebub to Satan

Beelzebub is one of the original Monarchs in Afterparty. He is met by Milo and Lola during their journey to convince Satan to let them out of Hell.

Personality[]

Beelzebub is a stern, business-focused demon who has work on his mind at nearly all times. He shows both concerrn and irritation over the state of his brother, Satan, who has buried himself in alcoholism and ceased to do his share of the work.

Official Description[]

"Satan's older brother, Beelzebub, runs the day-to-day operations in Hell. Overworked, he misses the days when Lucifer was more directly involved in the family business, and not partying all the time in his volcanic mansion on Welkin Way."[1]

Appearance[]

Beelzebub is a tall, purple demon with glowing blue facial features and two wing-like protrusions coming from his back. He has a grey, mask-like face with spikes resembling a beard and three horns protruding from the top. He wears a light blue, long-sleeved shirt and a navy tie underneath a patterned vest, dark blue pants, and black shoes.

Background[]

Beelzebub was born as an angel to God alongside his brothers and sisters, including Apollyon, Asmodeus, Onoskelis, Sam Hill, and Satan. After joining Satan in his rebellion against God and their subsequent loss, Beelzebub was punished by being cast out into Hell alongside his siblings. At first, Beelzebub lived on Welkin Way with his other siblings; however, they later moved out to their own locations with the exception of Satan.[2]

In Hell, Beelzebub runs the daily operations and, due to Satan's increasing tendency to spend his time partying, has taken on his brother's workload as well for "practically a millennia",[3] including supervising shipment orders and checking in for reports with employees and businesspeople such as Abraxus Quincy Purson Esquire Jr.[4] and Beth.[5] Due to Satan's addiction to Hellcohol affecting his relationships and work, Apollyon began plotting an intervention with the help of her siblings and denizens of Hell who were close to Satan, including Beelzebub.

Plot[]

Beelzebub is first seen speaking with Satan at his house on Welkin Way about needing approvals on an order of a thousand iron maidens, which Satan is unwilling to talk about while the party is still ongoing. If Milo and Lola don't interrupt the conversation, Beelzebub tells him to sign the work order before teleporting away. If they do, Beelzebub will leave either after telling him to sign the order before morning comes or, if Milo or Lola didn't choose a drunk option, after Satan tells him to get drinks for them.

Much later on, Beelzebub appears at Satan's intervention alongside Apollyon and the rest of the participants. He is either the one to either call out their interventionist, Roberto Spaghetti, or comments that it would have been easier with him there. After Satan commences the drinking game in spite of them and collapses after the first round, Beelzebub pleads Satan to stop his behavior before his brother teleports away with Milo and Lola. After the second round is over, Satan teleports them back to his home, where Beelzebub waits with the others.

(Forfeited and lost the game)
If Milo and Lola purposefully forfeited the game in favor of helping Satan, Beelzebub expresses disbelief upon learning that they sacrificed their chance to escape. Three months later, Milo or Lola will mention that Beelzebub is going to have a talk with Satan after he fell back into drinking again. If Lola's choices were favored throughout the game, Milo will mention that Beelzebub told him that Lola got the job as "one of the first human defenders of lost souls."

(Accepted and won the game)
If Milo and Lola won the game, Satan drunkenly celebrates their victory as Apollyon blames Milo and Lola for enabling him in disbelief, and Beelzebub leaves with the rest of the crowd after Satan collapses. Beelzebub is not seen or mentioned during the epilogue three months later.

(Accepted and lost the game)
If Milo and Lola accepted and ended up losing the game, Satan will express disappointment over their loss before heading to bed, despite Beelzebub's pleas for him to stay. Three months later, Milo or Lola will mention that Beelzebub is going to have a talk with Satan after he fell back into drinking again. If Lola's choices were favored throughout the game, Milo will mention that Beelzebub told him that Lola got the job as "one of the first human defenders of lost souls."

Quotes[]

Beelzebub: "There's a deadline on this, and if we miss the quarter, where are the gluttons going to go? Huh? You wanna store 'em?! I can't stock 'em with the heretics."
Satan: "[chuckles] I'm not talking about work, okay? Not tonight-- it's not happening. It's the weekend."
Beelzebub: "It's a Tuesday, Luke. And a school night. And I have kids."
Satan: "Yeah, I already saw them, they just left to have a threesome with that Conquistador."
