Behemoth, better known as Beth, is a character in Afterparty. She is the Director of Operations of Hell's social media platform, Bicker, and is the ex-wife of Monarch Asmodeus. She can be met by Lola and Milo during Asmodeus' Seal quest in Thrall City, where they have the option of reuniting her with her ex.
Personality[]
Beth is a friendly, social demon with a high voice and a sweet register. She is career-focused and business-minded, viewing little girls as "corporate mechanisms for intercontinental cross-promotional marketing" and reluctantly deciding to break up with Asmodeus in order to concentrate on her job.
Beth is allowed into The Significant Cellar, which normally only allows unprincipled customers with "zero moral fiber"; however, as Milo is allowed to bring Lola with him after losing his conscience, this may not be a true reflection of Beth's personality but of one or both of her friends, Betty and Veronica.
Appearance[]
Beth is a tall, stocky demon with glowing pink facial features who wears a white shirt underneath a purple blazer, purple pants, and black shoes, as well as a golden pin in the shape of Bicker's logo and a white pearl necklace.
Background[]
Beth first met Asmodeus when they were both drunk and it was "raining frogs", causing them to stay together and eventually start dating.[1]
After deciding to put a focus on her career, Beth ended her relationship with Asmodeus; however, she still constantly worries over how he's doing without her, to her friends' annoyance. She mentions that she's "still getting used" to the title of Director of Operations, indicating that she only received it recently. She also began going on coffee dates with a Marketing Demon named Erik.
Plot[]
If Milo and Lola choose to pass by the Significant Cellar prior to meeting Asmodeus in Thrall City, Beth drops down from the sky onto Milo along with her friends, Betty and Veronica, while talking about someone named Frank. Upon noticing Milo, Beth apologizes and introduces herself before Betty takes the three inside. As the Cellar is a bar exclusive to "serious reprobates", Milo and Lola cannot access it at the time.
While speaking with Asmodeus at Club Skoll, he mentions that he was close with Satan after he helped him get over his breakup with Beth; if Milo and Lola encountered her earlier, Milo can mention her, causing Asmodeus to ask about her. After Milo is split apart from his Conscience upon drinking an Unapologetic, Lola hatches a plan to get Asmodeus and Beth together, which Milo vehemently refuses. If Lola pushes her idea, she remains in control and can pursue Beth at The Significant Cellar, where they are allowed in due to Milo's lack of conscience. If they hadn't visited the Cellar earlier, the scene with Beth landing on Milo will play first.
Inside, Milo and Lola will find Beth sitting with her friends while watching a male hoofer dance on a podium. After unsuccessfully trying to convince her to get back with Asmodeus, Milo and Lola learn from Betty and Veronica that the song "Nuts Buster" by the Mysterious Lesions was playing when Beth and Asmodeus decided to get married. They find the song on the jukebox and play it, causing Beth to punch the hoofer off his podium and decide to come with them. As they walk to Club Skoll, she tells them about her issues with Asmodeus and that she's been seeing someone new.
Upon entering the club, a demon catcalls Beth before she sets him on fire. She leaves to get a drink before the contest starts and reappears in the crowd later on, causing Asmodeus to redact his pep talk to Milo and tell him to throw the competition to let him impress Beth. If Milo wins, Beth is unimpressed by his dancing and Asmodeus bitterly gives them his Seal. If Asmodeus wins, Beth is surprised by Asmodeus' moves and mentions "all the years [she] asked [him] to take [her] dancing, and they share a laugh before Asmodeus gives Milo and Lola his Seal.

Relationships[]
- Asmodeus - Beth and Asmodeus were deeply in love during their relationship, to the annoyance of their friends. Beth had some pet peeves about Asmodeus, such as his tendency to leave his shirt on the ground regardless of where they were and pronouncing "arctic" like "artic". After breaking up with him, Beth constantly worries over how he's doing, and is easily convinced to meet with him after hearing the song from the night they decided to get married.
- Beelzebub - During their first meeting, Beth mentions that she needs to keep up conversion and retention in order to "keep Beelzebub off [her] ass", indicating that he may be one of her superiors.
- Erik - Erik is a Marketing Demon who Beth had gone on a few coffee dates with after her divorce from Asmodeus.
Quotes[]
- "Okay. You wanna know why I left my husband? I guess you're young enough to ask-- it's cause marriage doesn't work. It's like asking why humans can't breathe gasoline-- you weren't built for it."
- — Beth to Milo and Lola if they asked about Asmodeus prior to her friends leaving
- "I'm the first woman VP at Bicker. Okay? You know what that means? It means I get to spread the message... to every little girl... that they are useless except as corporate mechanisms for intercontinental cross-promotional marketing. And that's an honor I'm not going to take lightly. And I'm not about to let an insecure husband-- get in the way of that."
- — Beth to Milo and Lola
- Lola: "Beth, Beth, Beth! It's obvious to everyone with eyeballs that you're still madly in love with him. You tremble every time you say his name!"
- Beth: "No, my boy-dancer's movements are creating a slight draft."
- — Lola and Beth (if Lola chose "You still love him, I know it!" (Hopeless Romantic))
- "Look, sweeties, it's nice of you to come over and everything... But if death is God's big joke, love is his one engineering flaw. Romance is the perfect engine to make toys for Him, it is, we fall hard and we fall often, but... That same engine can never handle the strain indefinitely. It always overheats... and breaks the fucking toy."
- — Beth to Milo and Lola
- Beth: "Fine. Kids? Is Asmodeus over at Skoll?"
- Lola: "Why... do you... ask?"
- Beth: "Obviously it's because a manufactured piece of pop culture tripe designed to make me happy-- has just slightly missed the mark and made me melancholic. And I wanna see what I'm missing, now, so... whatever, let's see. "
- — Beth and Lola (if Lola asks "Why...?")
Trivia[]
- If Milo and Lola brought Beth and Asmodeus back together, Wormhorn mentions during her recap that Beth listens to The Eagles, an American rock band. The caption of the unlockable photo commemorating the event also indicates that she has a gambling addiction.
