Afterparty Wiki
So who's really to blame if we're all paper dolls cut by God's hand... If He slipped a little... with me. The sun rose the next morning like nothing happened. And in a way, nothing did.
— Eliza to Lola and Milo (determinant)

Eliza is a character in Afterparty. If Lola and Milo choose to pursue Fela in hopes of a ticket to Satan's party, she is the one of the three humans they can interrogate and accuse of having snuck into Hell at the Feisty's in Bobolyne Park, the others being Greg and Pete.

Personality[]

Eliza was born without the ability to process a "certain capacity of reason", leading her to become ambivalent towards the prospects of death and carrying out the murder of loved ones. She is self-aware of this and does not assign blame to anyone for the way she is, including God; she sees her placement in Hell as what she deserves as a person, and will take Milo's optional blunt rejection of her as "[making] sense".

Eliza speaks with an English accent. While drunk, she can be somewhat judgmental of others, letting it slip that she finds most of the party uninteresting before backtracking and saying Charlie "seems entertainin' enough (...) for someone who probably had a gerbil growing up."

Appearance[]

Eliza has short, black hair and wears a red outfit with a plunging neckline, black shoes, and a yellow striped party hat.

Background[]

[singing] I recall my dear old brother under the Autumn light; when he was four and I was more, I pierced him with a knife.
— Eliza to Milo and Lola (determinant)

Eliza grew up in the county town of Shewsbury, which she refers to by its informal name of Salopia. When he was four years old, Eliza stabbed her younger brother, killing him. She was diagnosed with being unable to process "a certain capacity of reason" and mentally ill. In life, she worked at a saw mill.[1] She was sent to Hell upon her eventual death, where her punishment involves being whipped by people dressed like her father. Her death appears to be relatively recent, as she still isn't aware of whether Hell has a day-night cycle.

Plot[]

If Milo and Lola choose to pursue Fela for an invitation to Satan's party instead of Lynda, they will be assigned by him to infiltrate a bachelor's party at Feisty's to search for a human who's snuck into Hell. They can find Eliza sitting with Greg and a female demon named Rakshasas, where she chimes in mid-conversation initially confusing Milo for a waitress. After speaking with her, Rakshasas decides to teleport away, causing Greg and Eliza to begin heading home. As Lola doesn't want them to separate while still at a bar in Hell, Milo must choose to pursue either Greg or Eliza.

If they decide to interrogate Eliza, she tells them about her mental disorder and why she believes she ended up in Hell, to which Milo can either sympathize, change the subject, or condemn her. Afterwards, Eliza asks Milo (who she initially misnames as "Shiloh") if she can have his number, to which he can either accept or reject before she leaves the bar.

Afterwards, Lola and Milo must choose to accuse either Greg, Eliza, or Pete of being the human who snuck into Hell to Fela. If they accuse Eliza, she is drunkenly escorted out of the bar by two security demons and vaguely recognizes Milo and Lola. Fela tells them that she is doomed to be sentenced to the Ninth Circle, where she will be hacked into infinite pieces by multi-limbed, feathered serpents for eternity. Later on, at Satan's party, Fela informs Milo and Lola that it was discovered they had chosen the wrong person, resulting in Fela being fired from his job.

If Eliza wasn't accused and got Milo's phone number, she later texts him after they finish Asmodeus' quest, asking whether he wants to get a drink next Friday. As Lola advises against it, Milo can choose to either tell her to pick the place or lose his number. If he chose the former, he texts her asking where they should meet, to which she suggests Inanna's Diner in Tarturus, 3rd and Galla at 8:00. If he chose the latter, he only texts "UNSUBSCRIBE."

If Milo was receptive, Eliza texts him again soon after Sam Hill drops him and Lola off at Welkin Way, telling him that she's wondering what to wear for her date. Milo can choose to either say he's "thinking about what [she] should wear, too" or reject her and say that he's planning on leaving Hell, causing her to tell him she hopes she sees him again and to take care.

Relationships[]

  • Milo - Eliza is attracted towards Milo and will always ask for his number if he pursues her instead of Greg as a suspect, even if he chooses to condemn her instead of sympathizing after hearing her backstory. She follows up by setting up a date between them and flirting over text, and if Milo tells her that he wants to escape Hell and can't go on the date, she is understanding and tells him to take care.

Quotes[]

Eliza: "Excuse me, waitress, could I have another-- another martini?"
Milo: "I'm not a waitress. I'm also not a woman, I don't know if you can... see that."
Eliza: "Oh... pardon me, ma'am. I haven't been this twatted since the last work party at the saw mill. Sorry, I'm Eliza. Are you two, uh, part of the groom-to-be's stag show? I'm not sure who's party-part of the party and who's... Who's just buying booze, you know?"
— Eliza and Milo's first meeting. (determinant)
"No, y-your friend's pretty accurate, there. I was born missin' a certain capacity of reason. Some ducklings wouldn't think it fair, me being here-- what with my mental deformity. But I couldn't dampen it, it was like trying to not go to the bathroom. Not fall in love. So who's really to blame if we're all paper dolls cut by God's hand... If He slipped a little... with me. The sun rose the next morning like nothing happened. And in a way, nothing did."
— Eliza to Milo after Lola calls her "fucking insane." (determinant)
Lola: "That is such bullshit, Eliza. You don't blame God for your level of batshit. You blame Him when you drop your phone and it cracks on your way to buying a case for it!"
Eliza: "I don't blame Him for anything. I'm where I belong. We all are."
— Eliza and Lola. (determinant)

Trivia[]

Cookie 10 - Milo Karaoke

A scrapped Wormhorn recap slide.

  • While pursuing Greg involves playing the drinking game "Ladder to God", pursing Eliza only involves a conversation during which she reveals that she murdered her brother in a sing-song voice. The game's files show that Eliza was initially going to have a freestyle karaoke minigame, in which Milo would have to come up with verses and earn the crowd's approval over four verses.
